140EDF...which focuser?

Purely from an aesthetics, which to choose? I ordered the 2.7" focuser since I don't do imaging (thus far) but am now second-guessing the decision.

All pics I've seen of the 140 have the 4" focuser and it looks great.

I opted for the 4" for future growth. I use a DSLR now but aspire to move up to an STL1100 some day.
And like Bruce said.....
What I want to know is, when are they going to start shipping?! I'm Jonesing for some more detailed pics. All I can find are the NEAF pics on the AP site.
My accessories arrived today. Is December realistic? I sure hope!

Mine is due in October. I was on the original AP 130 F/8.3 list from April 2000 which now seems like an ice age ago. I also ordered it with the 2.7" focuser because at this time I don't do any imaging. Other factors were weight, cost and the fact that Roland said the 4" focuser could always be added later on down the road. I have heard some comment that they turned down the 140 because they already have a 130 and thought the step up would not be enough of a gain. Back when I had my 155 f/7 I did a little experiment and stopped it down to both 130mm and 140mm. I have to say a 140 behaves much more like a 6" than a 5". In fact I thought the view from 140 to 155 was rather subtle whereas from 130 to 140 was quite dramatic.

Good question. What is the maximum flat and illuminated field for the 2.7? I have just DSLR/ST stuff at the current time.

The 4" focuser isn't that much more but there are big differences in the flatteners. Can 2.7" flatteners/reducers be used on the 4" focuser?

If you use none, but are using the smaller chips what is the acceptable fov for uncorrected objective?

For visual use, I dont think you will go wrong either way, Evan. I've had probably 5 of the 2.7" AP focusers on scopes over the years and they stand up well to the heaviest bino configurations. What more can you ask for?
