305F3.8 Honders first image

Last night it was finally clear, and the 305F3.8 Honders Astrograph saw first light. Although the seeing wasn't the best, it was transparent enough to capture some faint detail using narrow band H-a and OIII filters. The image is reduced to 1/4 size to show the immense field of this astrograph using the STL11K (cropped full size at top right)

Camera STL11K, Baader H-a and OII combined as RGB, exposure: 9x10 minutes H-a and OIII

Hi Roland,

Beautiful first light. Must be a special moment for you.

Rolando,

Great first light shot. Looks flat to me from edge to edge. grin

With Cygnus slowly getting into prime position, the Veil Complex and/or the North American nebula and/or the Pelican nebula are screaming "me too for your Honders". wink

Would it be possible to post a photo of this scope?

Stunning image! Can't wait to see what it does on
a large nebula (N. American, Veil, Rosette, M8/20....).

Amazing that with 9X10 minute exposures you were able to faintly capture the surrounding shell - and with an STL-11000 (not the most sensitive chip on the planet smile ). Very impressive first light!

Beautiful image, and IC 1296 is sitting there plain as day. Does anyone make a large CCD with pixels small enough to take advantage of the wide field capabilities of this scope?

Rolando,

Congrats on what is likely to be another masterpiece of an instrument!

Beautiful huge flat field... wow.

How about an image of the scope itself?!? wink

Thanks!
