I doubt it. The AP3600 GOTO is one serious jump both in weight and load carrying capicity that only the serious would contimplate buying a mount that can take 250lbs. I doubt that at an head weight of 203lbs that the GT3600 is portable so it's would be more an observatory mount. The AP1200 still has an important position to fulfill in the AP fleet of mounts.
Roland sure kept this puppy a secret, makes me wonder what other little secrets he is keeping in regards to product release but the new mount is really nice work.

I think I like everything I've heard so far about this new mount , except, well, the name "El Capitan". I know it's not "Official" yet, but I think a name more in line with other AP mount names -Like "Mach I". I would suggest a competition for the naming of this new mount- and the prize winner would be first on the notification list. The name would need to imbue a sense of Mass,Awe,Heritage,Timelessness. Joe
