Does anyone have an opinion on the quality of the Meade Apo's. Specifically, I'm thinking about the 5" Apo to do solar imaging with.

Thanks!!

Never tried one myself, but Ed Ting has reviews of the Meade 102, 152, and 178 mm refractors on his site (www.scopereviews.com).

Meade 12" LX-200 ACF
SkyShed POD
Stellarvue 80 mm 80/9D Achromat
Meade LXD-75 8" SN

I owned a 127ED. It was an excellent scope with very good color correction. If you like see my review on astromart on the 127ED. Burgess Optical is supposed to come out with a 153ED I am waiting for a review. If it's as good as the Meade I will buy it. Will sell around 850-$900 and weigh only 21LBS. That's what the Meade 5" APO weighs.I sold it because I wanted more aperture and got a 7" Meade Mak for the Mars July 03 show. It also was an excellent scope. Now I have a 10" LX 200. Good all around scope. Great for deep sky. It's very heavy and does not have that Refractor crisp view. Hope this helps.
