I just received a new Tak FS-78 and am wondering what size the threads are on the back of the rack and pinon focuser. They aren't the standard 48mm T-threads, they are larger. The adapters are sort of unique in that I had to put in a 1 1/4" diagonal to achieve focus on a 32mm Konig.

I have a FS-78 , with a 2" adapter, i can focus a 31mm & 22mm Nag, but only just! My 2" 2x Powermate wont focus before, or in the diagonal.

The FS-78 is a great little scope, with my Nag's and Radians.

I thought about taking the Televue diagonal barrel to a machine shop and having it turned down so it would fit all the way into the 2" adapter, but I didn't want to ruin the diagonal if it didn't turn out right. The Meade is short enough that all eyepiece combos will come to focus. If you decide to try something like having the diagonal tube shortened, let me know how it turns out. I really don't think it would be that hard to do. You can see in the previous post I made with the pic of the 78 on a Telepod, how far the Meade barrel sticks out of the 2" adapter with the barrel butted up against the focuser drawtube, but it works, so all is well...clear skies...David
