Televue 76 Planetary views

anyone out there have a TV 76 and can tell me what kind of planetary and moon views their getting?

Yeah, really really small images of Mars with little or no detail. That's with a 4.8mm Nagler. I don't look at the moon, can't help you there.

I don't have the TV76, but my Pentax 75 EDHF is comparable.

See the "Image of the Day" thumbnail to the left (Mr. Yen's Mars image)?

If I stand ~15-20 feet away from my own screen (15-inch CRT set at 1024x768 resolution), I get a fair simulation of what the EDHF can show me on *good* nights. My usual magnifications are in the 100-150X range. Accessories include: Ultima Barlow, 2.5X Powermate, 6mm Pentax Abbe, and 10mm Clave.

David: here's a photo I took using my TV-76. Admittedly, I had it cranked up with a couple of barlows and an extension tube on the ToUcam camera, and the planetary seeing was very good. But it should give you some idea of what the scope is capable of.

David: here's a moon photo with the TV-76. It's actually a composite of four photos. The mount used was a Nexstar 114GT mount and it wasn't very well aligned - a lot of movement during the photos, which is why they aren't tack sharp.
