Prairie Skies Star Party

Star Party [SP]
Prairie Skies Star Party 2007 will be held at beautiful Camp Shaw-Waw-Nas-See 4-H camp, near Bourbonnais Illinois. In addition to all night observing; Prairie Skies Star Party features catered meals, door prizes, a swap market, an imaging contest, vendors, a guest speaker or two, and several activities to attend or participate in. We place a special emphasis on amateur telescope making, by recognizing outstanding achievement through our ATM Telescope and Accessory Awards. Visit the Prairie Dog Stand and enjoy a tasty prairie dog; and don’t forget the famous Midnight Chili on Friday night. As always; complimentary coffee, tea, and hot chocolate will be available all day and night throughout the event. Our ever popular Every Night Movie Festival will feature sci-fi movies in the Dining Hall. Join us as Prairie Skies Star Party "continues the tradition" at Camp Shaw. Camp Shaw-Waw-Nas-See provides a semi secluded location, well protected from the glare of off-site lighting. The 5 acre main observing field is large and grass covered, making it ideal for observing and camping. Rustic barrack style cabins are available for non-campers. The large Dining Hall serves as a gathering place for many of the scheduled activities. Enjoy walking through the woods on shady hiking trails; one of which follows Rock Creek as it traverses the camp property through a small canyon. Nearby Kankakee River State Park has an extensive bike trail system, and offers many other recreational opportunities. Pre-registration deadline: 8-11-07 (prices higher after deadline) PSSP is hosted by the Prairie Skies Astronomical Association.
