Ok, I got the new spider in from 1800 Destiny and it is installed. Here is a picture of the 10" and 14.5" scopes with the spiders.

Looks great Floyd! 8)
Please, if possible, report how well these perform in the field (compared to standard vanes)... wink
(would the difference be noticeable?)

Clear skies! wink

I've got the 3 vane for my 10" project...

Love to hear a review on both scopes with the spiders! (as if you haven't been working hard enough already!!!!)

[COLOR="Purple"]They look great Floyd!

I'm using one of Destiny's 3 vane spiders in my 18.75" which is currently (interminably?) under construction. This is one of the Observatory class spiders with thicker vane material to allow use of only 3 arcs. I'm hoping it will allow for hi-res views!!

Floyd, I contemplating getting James to build me a 10" f/6 and have asked him if he could install a curved spider instead, but haven't heard back yet. Were their any problems with installing the 4-vane curved spider in your Astrosky? I guess you had to go with 4 instead of 3-vane based upon the existing supports on the Astrosky UTA?

Love my curved spider. I wouldn't go back to the 4 vane, even if it performed better. Makes me feel like I have an APO. Day to day viewing revealed no degredation in contrast or details, but did produce a lovely spikeless view. I think a side by side with exact/similar scopes would be required to quantify the differences.
