Filters

Which filter would be better for galaxies or nebulae and by what % ?? or do they all essentially do the same things only at different levels?? I noticed the price varies which is why I am asking. Example if a 0 111 filter is only 10 % better than a light polution filter then it's not worth it to me to spend twice as much on a 0 111 filter.

1. light polution filter
2. nebulae filter
3. uhc filter
4. 0 111 filter


Any help would be appreciated..

Check this link out for comparisons of some of these. Bottom line is that some work better or differently on different DSO's. So depending on how discriminating or curious you are you may end up with several of these and others. Mostly though they are for nebulae. Not much helps a galaxy except more apperture and darker skies.

Hi all --

A related question comes to mind -- 1.25" or 2" size for viewing of nebulae?
Do most nebulae benefit from wide field views or do shorter focal length eyepieces do the job just as well?
