A little over a year ago I purchased a scope from a camera store. I payed two thousand for it even though it was in less than perfect condition. Now I'm not going to mention the name of the shop but when I bought it they told me they would get me the shipping boxes from the manufacturer and never did. So recently I've been wanting to buy a house and since I have another great scope I would try to sell this one. So after an unsuccessful Astromart attempt I figured I'd call the shop where I bought it since it was used in the first place. Thinking they may buy it for half of what I paid for it. What a laugh after they're sales person gave me the hard sell and screwed me on the boxes they only offered me a quarter of what I paid. And That was if it was in excellent condition! Needless to say I will do all of my future purchasing from Anacortes. And I won't mention the camera shop. Sorry had to rant. Do all scopes depreciate 75% in a year?

What's really sad, though, is when a shop tries to sell a used scope for almost as much as, or in some cases more than, a new one would cost! Guess they need just a couple sales like that a month to pay the rent smile

Hello there Paul,

If you had bought an AstroPhysics APO, you might have been
able to sell it and recoup all of your $$$$ or even make a profit. Most other APO refractors don't depreciate very much.

No, they don't. Buy a good used one here and its price is only dependent on the market. Usually a good one won't depreciate. Some Apo refractors go up in value.
