Windy Ridge Observatory

My Observatory is almost done.
Under ground power installed.
Just need to finnish the inside.

You all can laugh and call it names if you wan't, but at least it works and I have an observatory.

No laughing from here. It is a far cry from my observatory, as I don't have one... I can only say, if it works for you, then I am happy for you. Don't let others laughing get to you, they either don't have one, or they have one they spent a fortune building. Heck, I am having a hard enough time getting my wife to let me install a pier in my yard...

It is quite an interesting design, not sure if you just came out with it, or you followed somebody else's idea/plan, but if it works for you then nothing else matters... right?
NOTE: If anybody made fun of it, I'm sure nobody wanted to hurt your feelings... this is a pretty friendly group... and they joke around a bit sometimes.

What prompted you to do this design instead of a roll-off roof? any trade-offs? problems that you see? or things you would like to improve on?

Alan: no laughing from here either!! I've been trying to convince my wife for a good long while that I need an observatory to get better use out of all the $$$ she sees me spending on this hobby. Finally I have gotten her nudged around to see it my way, and now I've got the Association Police to contend with - actually it's the builder/developer as he's the association until more folks move into the subdivision he's constructing. We see him tomorrow to review plans for a roll-off and try to get his buy-off. But until all that's done, you are light years ahead of me with your flip-top. Your design gives a great illustration that with a little innovation and some old fashioned hard work you don't need to spend a bundle to have some fun. Enjoy it!!
