Anyone catch the Geminids tonite? I had thin clouds here in northern NJ, but was still able to catch 10, including one of the brightest, longest lasting I'd ever seen, heading out towards Saturn. THAT one was worth the frustration.

It's been raining here in San Diego most of the week, continuously since sometime Friday.

Showers: Yes, just not meteor showers...

We may get a break tonight along the NC-SC border in the extreme west. We can only hope. Probably up towards the Parkway.

It was too cloudy here too, but I did see several on Thursday and Friday night's while startgazing. I had my finger's crossed for Saturday but the cloud's didn't cooperate.

As Jon noted, we've been having (much needed) rain all week,
but it started clearing up Sunday and I was able to observe them for a couple hours.
I set up a lounge chair out back and layed back with a big wool blanket and enjoyed the show.
I saw 25 or 30, most of which were very bright and fairly fast moving.
A few showed colors, but most were just bright white.
It was nice to just lie there and watch the sky rotate for a change,
instead of moving a scope from one object to another.
About 2:00 o'clock the clouds moved back in and put an end to the festivities.
Very nice while it lasted though.
