Anyone else feel the Earthquake? That was about as big as you get in the Mid-Atlantic. At my work it shook for about 15 seconds. It was classic too. We first felt the the compression waves, which shook mildly. Then there was about a 1 second lull before the more violent sine waves came. Since there appears to be no damage, I'm thinking it was pretty neat.

We felt it in Cincinnati! I was swaying on my second floor. The epicenter was in Virginia, a 5.9 quake, and very shallow. Maybe that's why it was felt over such a wide area.

You call that an earthquake? CNN's coverage of the quake has even overshadowed the Libya situation with people freaking out all over the East coast. If you look closely at CNN's video, you can just barely see the camera is swaying a little. Ooooooh! Mass evacuations, traffic gridlock, cellular service overloaded. Better shut down the nuclear powerplants!

An earthquake is when it feels/sounds like a 747 has crashed into your house and the bed you're sleeping in suddenly becomes a mechanical bull. When it's over, you get up, dust yourself off and say "Wow, that was fun."

I have several telescopes, but none are semi-APO, APO, or in anyway valuable.

I live in Virginia, near DC. Was quite interesting. I was home from work as I broke my foot a few days ago. The walls of the house were visibly swaying back and forth. What was interesting to me was the frequency, which was very low...so each occilation was about an entire second long, which I felt was very slow. Almost felt like someone had grabbed the house and was shaking it methodically and slowly from side to side. My house has substantial amount of brick, and a brick chimney, was surprised it held without cracking as brick is probably the worst construction for earthquakes.
