Greg;  I don't think he was baiting, I think he was sending out a trial balloon.  In any case there are some things the president should not "bait," especially on twitter.   How about these:

"Send a battalion of tanks into downtown Portland until people can peaceably shop???"

"Drop a few nukes on Beijing until the Chinese start exercising basic economic fairness???"

"Close the stock markets until the pandemic is over???"

"Delay the Election until people can properly, securely and safely vote???"

"Cancel the Election until people can properly, securely and safely vote???"

Can you imagine the chaos?  This was one of the most idiotic and offensive tweets DJT has ever sent, and I hope we agree that is saying a lot!

For several cycles Colorado has been entirely mail-in (or "drop off" voting if you wait too long to use the mail.)   Seems to work great.  I personally love it, especially since we usually have many ballot initiatives, so it takes a while to wade through.  Much easier to do at the kitchen table.  We have no more fraud than any in-person voting state.  At least not to my knowledge.  

Here is one critical point for the nation's mental health.  In CO your ballot must be received by close of business on election day.  No excuses for residents.  I think soldiers stationed overseas get extra time.  This is important.  To the extent any state implements a plan where the ballot must be "postmarked" by COB on election day, it is easy to envision weeks of uncertainty following the election.

I agree that Trump now, in the glare of conservative outrage, probably has no intention (and certainly has no Constitutional apparatus) for following through.  Still the dumbest tweet of all time.  This is the sort of thing that could turn into a "basket of deplorables" moment.
