Hi again all

My favourate cluster in Scopius ! and only 6200 LY away!geez...right next door don't ya think ?

Well,I dont't think you would get much of an argument If you were to make the claim that NGC 6231 is one of the most stunning open clusters in the heavens.

For those who have never viewed this cluster look It up in the top of the tail at about half a deg North of Zeta Scorpii...your in for a treat !

Again this was shot a couple of months back out at Magellan Observatory at Lake Bathurt N.S.W.(3 hours South of Sydney)

Shot through the ZS110/.8 reducer with the SXV-H9C on a AP600E mount.

Exposures were 2 minutes unguided and all pre-processing done in AA3 and post-processing with CS2.

Louie,

That IS a beauty! I can only image how it looks visually when high in your Aussie skies!

You've made a good case for that with your image, Louie.
You've chosen a good field of view, too.

Well done, Louie! I don't doubt your claims, though I can imagine it's somewhat muted from my location as it's pretty low in my sky sad

Louie,
You do the cluster justice. A beautiful image. I never have the confidence to shoot open clusters; you really have a way of making each star shine!

PS: Your previous post was also a stunner.
