M51 processing results compared

Hi all,

A while back I posted a 4 hour exposure of M51 with the ST2000 camera and ED100 scope. It looked ok, but I needed to keep trying to see if I could make it better, partly because it was a beta test of CCDStack 1.3 and partly for my own sanity. I reprocessed the 16 -15 minute subs again in a different way, and here is the result. I posted the first try next to the second try. To make sure it was my CCDStack processing method I will be trying this with a series of M104 I got. Anyway I wanted to post for comments and suggestions.

Thanks!!

Paul, nicely done... 8)
I sure do like the second one better, as it does not look overprocessed, and the colors seem more true...

Paul,

That's a big improvement! Isn't it amazing what can be done with the same data? All that the second images needs is a bit of sharpening (to my eyes anyway), and I'd call that version "done!".
