Hi all. I imaged last night from my light polluted yard here in Orem, Utah. I decided to try M81 with my Ultima 2000 8" SCT mounted on the G-11. I used an F/6.3 reducer/corrector and the usual SBIG ST2000XM camera. Here is the result. I sure wish I had taken time to go to my dark sky site.... I think the image could have been much better. I really had to work hard to separate the faint areas from the light polluted skies in the background.

Tyler,
Light pollution or not, Your image is outstanding - congrats. But I know what you mean about having to work hard to pull the faint detail out of the light pollution.

Great shot Tyler. Looks wonderful.

That galaxy is my favorite Astro image but unfortunately it does not appear to be up in Australia so far since I have been looking. I'll have to find out what months it comes up.
Like M31 it only just goes a little above the horizon here late in the year.
