Well, I have been following this group for a couple of years now, and have been refining my imaging and processing techniques. I am finally to a point where I am comfortable posting my images. So here is a first posting.

M-51
Lum 20@5 minutes
RGB 3ea@5 minutes (I know I need more color data.)
Imaged using:
ST2000XM/CFW8a/Astrodon LRGB E-series filter (again, I know I should be using the I-series filters, and have just installed them today..)
Alter MN74 Russian Mak-Newt
Losmandy G-11 Gemini Mounted in an observatory.
MaximDL for imaging.
MaximDL for Dark/Flat/Bias Processing and Combining.
PhotoshopCS for Detail processing.

Comments and suggestions are very welcome.
You can see my efforts to this point on my website.

Hi Wayne and welcome. Nice image... and nice website! I hope you will post here often. It is lots more fun when the images are flowing in from all directions.

Thanks for the words of encouragement folks. I really do appreciate it. I will post more as I go along. Unfortunately, here in Washington State, we see more cloudy nights than clear nights, so my opportunities are far apart and usually in the middle of the week. I am working on automating things more so I can image while I am sleeping on work nights, but first I want to get the tracking down a little better and find a way to automate a garage door opener to close the roof if the rain moves in.

Let me also say that you other folks who post here do a fabulous job of imaging, and I aspire to be as good as you.

Thanks again.

This is a fine first image post, Wayne. I like the wide field.

Keep 'em coming.
