This one is a reprocess of an earlier image I was never happy with.

A beautiful southern galaxy and perhaps the queen of them all.

7 hours, RCOS12.5inch, STL11000M, Astrodon filters, Tak NJP mount.

Taken at my dark site in NSW Australia.

Cool shot, Greg! That long spiral arm at the left looks like it's either grabbing a background galaxy... or is that some type of knot of stars?

Hi Greg,

Excellent image. i have not seen that long tidal tail before. Interesting.

Just one question... how did you manage to get such a beautiful yellow to the galaxy centre? I always have trouble with that.

Maurice

That's a beauty Greg! It sure has an interesting shape.

Greg,

This reprocess sure looks great! One to be proud of.
I see numerous tiny background galaxies too.
