Just took this tonight. M-31 using a Canon 30D at ISO800 and canon 70-300mm zoom lens set at 200mm and f/7.1. This is a stack of 4 120 sec subs. Unguided on a Losmandy GM-8 no flats, 5 darks. I am very happy with this camera. It makes it easy to do what i have always wanted to do!

Kerry,
That's an amazingly good first shot. Wow! Now you just have to watch out for the addiction to set in. I also don't think it's overdone at all; in fact it might even be underdone. I'll bet there's more data lurking in the spiral that some carefull tweaking with a curves application would bring out without blowing out the core. Do you have software that can do curves?

Kerry, very nice image of a target that I have had a very difficult time with!

Zoom out to 300mm and do a few more like that. Gives us rank amateurs a thought that even we could make a nice picture, with just a bit of effort.

Well done,

Welcome to THE DARK SIDE... 8)
From now on you'll be addicted to DSO shooting... (and who wouldn't? there are enough objects to last a lifetime...)

Great shot Kerry, keep it up! wink
