First reasonable Jupiter image

I think I'm slowly getting the idea of how to point the telescope in the right direction and get an image but at the current rate of progress I'll be 150 before I can post anything to rival what I've seen on this forum!

This was taken with my ED100 and a ToUcam Pro and stacked with Registax before doing some adjustment in PhotoshopCS. The image seems a little red to me and I don't seem to have got as much detail as Paul gets with his ED100. I don't really know how to quantify 'seeing' but I've never yet had an image on my laptop screen that didn't wobble and change shape a little. Perhaps in England, the home of the raincloud, this is the best I can hope for...

Tim, you are definitely on the right track!
You image, even though it is a bit yellowish/reddish, shows much detail... well done!

Keep it up, and thanks for sharing! wink

Tim,

A very nice image. The ED100 can do some remarkable images. I have noticed that my ED100 images are always redder than my C925 images as well. In fact sometimes I have had to manually adjust the colour on the monitor in K3CCD...something I really don't like to do. I noticed the same affect when I was imaging the sun with the ED100....the image was powerfully blue. After K3 adjusted the colours it was more natural. Then I used the camera on Jupiter in the 9.25" last night and it was way yellowish-red. It must have something to do with colour absorbsion through the lens vs the SCT setup.

Hi Tim,

That's a very nice image. I'm sure you'll be where you want to be in no time.

Clear skies,
