Thought it might be interesting hearing from you all: any astronomy item/equipment you sold and regretted/missed and ended purchasing the same thing again?

Here is my list
(a) Howie Glatter laser collimator (simply the best)
(b) TV-76
(c) TV-60
(d) SV-90 Fluorite

What about yours?

13mm Nagler
26mm Plossl
80mm refractor
50mm Finderscope

A TV Pronto is on my buy again list but I don't think I ever find a deal like the first time I bought one for $75 from an auction site in Chicago. I never should have sold it but I had aperture fever and wanted a big dob and needed the cash. I'm sure this list will grow bigger as the years go by.

Cheers,
Mike

Hi:

Interesting question... Strictly speaking, there are only two items I can think of that I have bought, sold, given away, or somehow were no longer in my possession and then purchased again...

- 32mm TeleVue Widefield I had one for several years as my 2 inch Widefield. I bought a 35 mm Panoptic, gave the 32mm WF to someone. Then I started missing it so I bought another one. I still have and use it.

- 5mm Celestron X-Cel. Worse eyepiece that had more than 2 element I have ever had. Gave it to someone on the condition they would keep it or bury it. A few years later I started thinking it couldn't have been as bad as I thought, bought another, it was.

- 9mm Synta Widefield alias Expanse clone. I had one for several years, it was the last non-Nagler in my eyepiece case and did reasonably well. I finally bought a 9mm type 6 so I gave the 9mm Synta away with a scope. But I got to missing it so I bought another one.

But over the years I have had several 8 inch Dobs including two Celestron Starhoppers and I have had several ST-80s. But I just buy those when the price is right and someone will come along who can use one so I give it to them...

I purchased one of the first Starmaster 11" EL scopes that Rick made. Sold it and regreted it a lot. So I purchased another one, the 11" ELT, several years later. Of course I eventually sold that one too, and regret it. I also had a Orion 10" XT dob and it was also a great scope, sold it and then purchased an Orion 10" Intelliscope XT. Of course I eventually sold that one too, and regret it. In fact I regret selling every scope I owned. Oh to be wealthy.

Probably a few Naglers and Panoptics,
but the one that's bugging me right now is the TV-85.
I've had two of them and sold them both to raise funds for bigger TeleVues.
I'm not ready to give up the NP-127 or my Genesis (the first one produced) yet,
but I really do miss that TV-85! Gotta get another one!

Vixen NA140...I purchased this...hold on to your seats....four times. I keep thinking I cant deal with the CA and then everytime I get the "or equal" I miss the FOV and flattness.

Sold a 28 UWAN to finance a 17 Nagler; now I want the UWAN back. It fills a gap between my 40 Paragon and 20 Nagler. It was excellent for my needs.

A super polaris mount with dual drives. Decided I had to get one of those back.

I have purchased 3 star blasts to give away as gifts.
