Hi all:

Well, it's NGC 2023 and that horsey thingy too. wink

I took this data of the Horsehead last February. Two days ago I tried reprocessing using some of the techniques I have learned from Ron Wodaski's new book (with Russell Croman). I really wanted to bring out the reflection nebula NGC 2023. I am pleased with the improvement over last year's processing. I think I also handled the noise resulting from way too little imaging time better in this go.

I see however that I have over-saturated some of the emission nebula over the horse's nose. There are so many trade offs!

Any comments would be appreciated!

That's a nice improvement all right, Jim! The new version looks more "natural" in color, and it's really smooth! Good job!

Jim,
Very nice! Like the comparison between the two images. Many of our old images are diamonds in the rough and should be revisited now and then as we learn new techniques. Good job! Ken Tydeck
