M45 with the Canon EOS 10D

Last night was a perfect night for imaging...cool, calm and crystal clear. I captured about 1.5 hours worth of exposures of M45 with the F3.3 6" Tak Epsilon. I was really surprised how deep the 10D was able to get!

Processing was really not too bad at all...the sky background was fairly smooth even when stretched severly.

hi,

Now that's real impressive !! At $1500 it's a steal compared to stardard ccd cameras.

A couple of questions.

How do you get focus, it must be a pain compared to a ccd camera with it's quick focus mode.

Do you get your flats the same way as with a ccd camera, and how many darks and flats must you stack to get a master flat and dark.

Rick,

Very sweet image! nice job on processing. That Tak Epsilon is a great match for the 10D.

Just beautiful! And your secondary spider contributes a lot to this image.

Hey Rick,
That is a wonderful image! So good in fact, it sent me into the 10D world! LOL Would it be too much to ask for your processing steps in regards to darks, flats, etc...? I would be interested in knowing your procedure on taking your darks and flats and how you incorperate them into the photo.
