Hi all,

Still stuck in the snow. Might be able to get back to the observatory in a couple of weeks if we don't get another big dump. In the mean time...

Please take a look. I have had a chance to fill in some blanks on the image pages but there is still a long way to go and more images to add. Fortunately, much of this site was from a template of other college pages, and someone who knew what they were doing set up a database for the images. I would be most interested in comments on layout, load speed, object description formats, search feature, and any obviously missing information. I know that lots of the images are "naked" right now, but at least they are there. (I think that database will be great if I can figure out how to be the master rather than the slave.) Thanks for looking.

Hi Charlie,
I took a look around the website and I must say I am impressed. The pages load quickly and the organization is excellent. I enjoyed looking around the site. You really have some nice images there. I really need to learn a little more about html so that I can spiff up my website. I am just using a canned program, but its better than nothing.
Cheers,
Tyler

Thanks for the comments - I will pass them along to the gurus. Although I have been fiddling with html since the first version of Mozaic, these pages are done in Dreamweaver, which is new for me and has about as many buttons as Photoshop. So in 6-7 years I might be able to explain what it does. I just add content to the template given to me.

Nice site, easy to navigate, great images. I like the home page and the series of images building your observatory. Everything loads quickly and images are of a nice size.

Nice location over 7000 feet and 6.5+ skies.

Thanks for Sharing

looks like a nice site Chuck.

What software did you use? I have been looking for a web design software that is easy to use. I have a sight now, that I have not updated in sometime because it's a PITA.

Hi Charlie,
The site looks pretty good so far.
It presents fine in Safari, but with the settings that I have in Firefox I get the thumbnail text intruding onto the thumbnail below. I also get double vertical scroll bars on some pages (using a 1680 x 1050 monitor). This makes viewing the page a bit clumsy, but you can change some things in the html to prevent this.
I had a good time putting up my site; I got a web girl to do all of the heavy lifting setting up the site, and then I got a couple of html books that are aimed at us "Dummies". Happily, it turns out that basic html is easy to learn and that with even with a rudimentary knowledge there is a lot that you can do on your own. I haven't had to go back to web girl since she set up my site and I've messed with it quite a bit.
I use Adobe GoLive, educational version, for editing. It's easy to use for this "dummy".
