stormy mars final version

I had a chance to finish the color work on these images today and found that I had an image from Sept 13 which is closer to the CM of these than the Sept 18 image I used previously.

I enlarged the original images which were captured at f29 and f32 using a 2x A/P barlow. The seeing was fair to poor both nights, but they held up OK. The mustard color of the dust on the Oct 21 image was very surprising.

best,
Alan

Hi Alan,
You have really captured the dust storm with these images. I don't
know about the seeing but the final version is just superb. I have been messing with
my pics all day trying to get the color right. You have succeded. These are
wonderful images of a special event. Congratulations to you!~!

All the Best,

Congratulation Alan: as usual smooth and detailed images, The October 21st image gives a rough idea of the planetary proportions of the event 8O

It is amazing that some of you guys have been able to push planetary imaging beyond unthinkable boundaries. I bet you that even the most experienced among us couldn't have predicted these developments only 3-4 years ago! Being able to document the development of a dust storm on mars with such wealth of details using webcams and amateur telescopes is nothing short of astonishing, even if we almost take it for granted.

BRAVISSIMO grin

Alan you sure know how to make the best out of marginal conditions!! I think you are a real master of your processing tools 8)
Wonderful comparison on how quickly this storm is changing the features of Mars!

That's an appealing, natural processing, Alan. It's not overly sharpened or contrasty. You have an artist's touch.

Hi Alan,

I know what kind of conditions we've had in the northeast lately and it's amazing you can get that kind of detail in your images. 8O
I'm hoping the dust storm doesn't overtake Mars before I get another chance at it.
