SCT Collimation under Adverse Circumstances

Disassembly, transport, and other adjustments to SCTs may result in gross miscollimation, where no "classic doughnut" is available to help in the adjustment process. Bad seeing also results in "bad doughnuts" which make collimation difficult. This article addresses these conditions, and provides some further pointers on SCT collimation.

If you’re on a tight budget, but looking for something better than inexpensive plossls, the Orion Epic ED2 line and the Smart Astronomy EF line may fall into your price range. Eyepieces from both lines can be purchased for less than $100 and therefore won’t break the bank.
